The much anticipated annual Dance Salad Festival returns
the week of April 7 to 11, 2009 beginning with
the Choreographers’ Forum which
features renowned international choreographers such as Mats Ek
from Sweden. With our co-presenters, The Museum of Fine
Arts, Houston, this event will take place again at the
Museum’s Brown Auditorium on Wednesday, April 8,
2009, 6:30 PM with a reception following. This event is
free and the general public is invited.
Three Evening Performances are scheduled on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, April 9, 10 and 11, 2009 at 7:30 PM in
the Wortham Center’s Cullen Theater. Each
curated performance presents a roster of outstanding dancers and
choreography from around the world. Among those coming to Houston
exclusively for Dance Salad Festival are The English National Ballet,
London, England; The Royal Danish Ballet, Copenhagen, Denmark;
Mats Ek and Ana Laguna, Stockholm, Sweden; Gothenburg Opera Ballet,
Sweden; SemperOper Ballet, Dresden, Germany; Staatstheater Ballet
Wiesbaden, Germany. Choreographers represented in the performance
program include: Mats Ek, William Forsythe, David Dawson, Hans
van Manen, Jorma Elo, Stephan Thoss and Kenneth Kvarnstrom.
Throughout the week of the Festival there will also
be master classes, from intermediate to advanced level, taught
by Festival participants at diverse locations throughout the city.
There will be more remarkable dance companies coming
this year. The most updated information on the program will be
available as soon as possible. Please, check for updates regularly.
