A Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival Special Film Screening and Discussion


What it is:
A unique program that features a film of highlights from the annual Dance Salad Festival live performances. Each spring, Dance Salad Festival brings the leading dancers and choreographers from major international professional ballet and dance companies to Houston to present three evenings of dance performance. Companies and dance artists from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa have been featured in the Festival.

Format/Duration:
Film and Q/A Session The film and program can be customized to run from 30 minutes to 1 hour in length.

Technical Requirements:
DVD player/projector and screen or white wall.

Location:
Program will be brought to your school or classroom by Dance Salad Festival staff and volunteer docents.

Arranging to Participate:
Please contact Dance Salad Festival to make arrange- ments. Please allow 2-3 weeks (minimum) for us to make necessary arrangements to be at your school. Programs can be arranged for any day, during or after regular school hours.

Dance Salad Festival
Afternoon Student Concert Program

 

The Afternoon Student Concert provides a unique oppor- tunity for high school students to see some of the world's most outstanding professional dance companies and learn more about dance as an art form and a profession during a special program conducted by Festival docents.

What does the program include:
• A tour of the Wortham Center, one of Houston's premiere performance halls, including the acclaimed Grand Foyer.
• The chance to see a portion of the Final Dress Rehearsal of the Festival's Opening Night performance.

Date and Time:
Thursday,March 28, 2013, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm which includes the Tour of the Wortham Center from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, followed by watching a Final Dress Rehearsal from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm .

Location:
Wortham Center Grand Foyer and Cullen Theater 500 Louisiana Street in the Downtown Theater District

Cost:
Free to Public and Charter School Students and their Teachers and Chaperones.

Maximum capacity and Sign up:
We can host 200 students and adult chaperons. Requests to participate will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Depending on the level of interest and in order to serve the most schools, participation by any single school may be limited to a maximum of 50 students.

Logistics/Transportation:
Transportation is the responsibility of each school. Students may arrive by bus or carpool. All details will be provided by Festival staff as reservations are finalized.Transporation subsidies are available. Please contact us for further details.
