HOUSTON INTERNATIONAL DANCE COALITION/
DANCE SALAD FESTIVAL
2006-07 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Houston International Dance Coalition/Dance Salad Festival’s Season of major events begins on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 with A Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival, co-presented with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in the Brown Auditorium. This premier screening of performance highlight from the 2006 Festival starts at 6:30 PM. A reception follows, and the general public is invited to these free events.  Subsequently, this video will travel to schools, libraries and community centers in the Greater Houston Area.

The high point of the Festival comes in April with three Evening Concerts presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 5, 6 and 7, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Wortham Center’s Cullen Theater.  Each curated concert presents a roster of outstanding dancers and choreography from around the world.  Among those coming to Houston exclusively for Dance Salad Festival are dancers from The Bolshoi Ballet – Russia, La Compania Nacional de Danza – Mexico City (National Ballet of Mexico), Compagnia Aterballetto – Reggio Emilia, Italy, Kim Eun Hee Dance Company – Korea, Galili Dance – Netherlands and others.

As part of the Festival, thethird annual Choreographers’ Forum features renowned international choreographers invited to participate in Dance Salad. With our co-presenters, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, this event will take placeagain at the Museum’s Brown Auditorium on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, 6:30 PM with a reception following.  Free and the general public is invited.

Additionally,the Afternoon Student Concert Program will take place on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at noon, downtown in the Wortham Center and in the Cullen Theater.  This program provides High School students a “behind the scenes” view of dance with a backstage tour and educational talks as well as a dress rehearsal performance. Free

And, throughout the week of the Festival, April 2-7, 2007, there will also be master classes, from adult beginner to advanced level, taught by Festival participants at diverse locations throughout the city.
